In a recent blog post, Timothy Arceri reports for Collabora that it’s a known fact that the open source Intel OpenGL video driver has always been behind times, always trying to catch up to the proprietary video drivers that are available for Microsoft Windows operating systems.

That ends now, as the Collabora team, who has always had lots of contributions to the Linux kernel, has managed to reach a major milestone by implementing OpenGL 4.4 support to the open source Intel video driver supporting recent Intel Broadwell and Intel Skylake platforms.

This game has a somewhat steep learning curve. It’s maybe not Dwarf Fortress steep, but if you’re primarily familiar with casual games, or maybe hack n’ slash or first person shooter games where the mechanics are fairly straightforward, you may be in for something a little different than what you’re used to. But if you’re familiar with other city planning games, like the SimCity series, at least some elements of the game should look familiar.
